Richard Cook

Richard started with the firm in October 2017 specialising in property and commercial law. After graduating, Richard spent several years with the Australian Taxation Office, as a tax policy analyst developing legislation in fields such as Superannuation, the GST and Foreign Investment and Trade. During his time in the government, Richard completed a Masters in Taxation through the University of New South Wales, which complimented his subsequent role as a taxation lawyer with a prominent private law firm in Canberra.

As a tax lawyer, Richard specialised in providing relatable advice property transactions, superannuation, the transfer of properties and superannuation issues as a result of marriage breakdown, buying and selling commercial properties and the creation of specialised business and estate planning structures.

Richard has since branched into the field of commercial and property law. His experience in tax law is uniquely complementary to his work as a property and commercial lawyer. Richard’s experience in commercial law has included both leasing and sale of business concerns, including the leasing of large commercial properties. Richard is otherwise able to confidently navigate clients through the purchase and sale of residential properties.

Like many of the lawyers here at our firm, Richard was born and raised in country NSW. Apart from his keen interest in all things law, Richard also enjoys typical pursuits such as barracking loudly at the television when viewing sport, catching up with friends, telling 'dad' jokes and avoiding the housework.
